Monitoring test agent impact on immune system biomarkers, whether cell surface, intracellular, or secreted, is a critical component of the drug discovery and development process. Using our Eurofins Discovery portfolio of cytokine, chemokine, and receptor occupancy (receptor saturation) assays, clients can identify biologically relevant mechanisms driving target modulation. Especially for antibody therapeutics, these assays are key to candidate prioritization and safety assessment.

We offer a cytokine release assay appropriate for assessment of Cytokine Storm, assays for macrophage/monocyte stimulation and inhibition, T cell stimulation and inhibition, and Toll-like receptor activation and inhibition. Single samples can be analyzed for both soluble protein determinations and cell-surface target binding. A breadth of biologically critical cytokines/chemokines and target engagement evaluations are possible, through standard qualified offerings as well as custom evaluations. Benefits include:

Evaluations can be performed on fresh or cryopreserved peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) as well as other human primary cell types and cell lines, and cells from other species. Standard assays are based on flow cytometry or multiplex ELISA approaches; other technologies may be available.
