Biological Information

Background Information:

Centromere Protein E (CENP-E), a kinesin-like motor protein that plays an active role of the microtubule-chromosome linkage, is essential for bipolar spindle formation and involved in mitosis. The mitotic arrest is proposed to be one of tumor inhibition. Inhibition of CENP-E is known to cause mitotic arrest, inhibitor of CENP-E kinesin may be useful in the treatment of various cancers.
