Biological Information

Background Information:

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), formerly known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), is the severe form of MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease), which affects almost 25% of the world population with a high overlap of obesity and diabetes. The pathogenesis of MASH is complex in association with steatosis and hepatitis, followed by aggressive fibrosis, cirrhosis, and even cancer. This specialized panel contains a total of 29 targets, which are highly engaged in glucose (e.g., GLP1), lipid (e.g., THRβ), and bile acid (e.g., FXR) metabolisms, as well as inflammatory (e.g., VAP1), apoptotic (e.g., ASK1), and fibrotic (e.g., LOXL2) effects, all are critical therapeutic indicators for MASH drug discovery and development. This panel enables an understanding of the mechanism of action (MOA), which helps more efficacious drugs discovered against this difficult-to-treat liver disease.
