Background Information:
Caspases are a kind of cysteine proteases, which can cleave their target proteins at aspartic acid residues. With their proteolytic functions related to apoptosis and inflammatory pathways, abnormal caspase activity can result in neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases. Caspase inhibitors include pseudosubstrates and allosteric inhibitors, which are widely used for neurological diseases, inflammatory diseases, and metabolic diseases research.
