Making Sense of Safety Data: How Our Visualization Tools Help You Spot Risks Faster

If you’ve ever tried to make sense of a big secondary pharmacology dataset, you know the feeling: dozens of targets, tons of numbers, and a short deadline to figure out what actually matters. It’s a lot – even for seasoned project teams.

That’s why Eurofins Discovery developed our interactive visualization dashboards. Instead of digging through spreadsheets or trying to mentally connect target activity with potential safety risks, you get clear visuals, intuitive patterns, and quick paths to follow-up decisions.

Both tools – SAFETYscan47 DataViz and In Vitro Safety Insight – are available directly in our customer’s eCOM account, come included with our standard SAFETYscan® and SafetyScreen™ safety panels, and are designed to:

  • Transform large datasets into recognizable patterns of potential safety liabilities
  • Simplify communication by making results clear and visually intuitive
  • Enable easy extraction of figures and outputs from the client portal to support external reporting and collaboration
  • Guide next-step studies with tailored follow-up recommendations linked to specific risk signatures

SAFETYscan47 DataViz: A Smarter Way to Explore Safety Panel Data

SAFETYscan47 DataViz was designed to make your SAFETYscan47 data easy to interpret, extract, visualize, and communicate. By personalizing your data view, this dashboard helps you:

  • Radar plots to view compound activity across the full panel
  • Compare test compounds to a robust library of correlative clinical molecules.
  • Adjust safety margins and curve fitting to align with your preferred data outputs.

Radial Barplot Visualization:

Visualize each molecule across the SAFETYscan47 panel and compare to correlative compounds (Figure 1).

  • Each bar represents EC50/IC50 values (expressed as pEC50/IC50).
  • Taller bars = stronger potency.
  • Correlation Score summarizes how your molecule compares to known clinical compounds.

It’s a fast way to ask: “Does this profile look like anything we’ve seen before?”

Interactive Safety Margin Analysis:

Allows you to explore potential off-targets and tweak potency values, Free Cmax and safety margin parameters. You can also observe real-time impact of changes on safety risk assessments and tailor outputs to compound-specific profiles (Figure 2).

Customizable Curve Fitting: When automatic fits don’t behave (and we all know they sometimes don’t), SAFETYscan47 DataViz gives you manual control (Figure 3). You can:

  • Re-fit curves
  • Apply your own rules
  • Export custom results for slides, reports, or discussions

This flexibility is a huge time‑saver when you’re preparing data for project meetings or regulatory packages.

In Vitro Safety Insight: or how to interprete your SafetyScreen Results and guide your next decision with confidence. It includes:

  • Spatial overviews, radar plots, heatmaps for rapid hit interpretation and comparison of compounds
  • A custom hazard metric to identify organs at risk
  • Suggested follow-up assays aligned with observed hit profiles

Pharmacology data presented on radar plot displaying inhibition percentage of the reference activity by the tested compounds on the target-based assays activity (binding and enzymatic). Target names in bold are those showing inhibition percentage higher than 50%, indicating a hit. B. Interpretation figures displayed as an Organ System Hazard Metric Profile (OSHMP) highlighting potential organs at risk based on pharmacological profile and known target related adverse events.

What makes these tools scientifically robust?

Both SAFETYscan47 DataViz and In Vitro Insights are designed to support teams across the drug discovery spectrum – from early de-risking to late‑stage prioritization. Whether you’re screening broad libraries or narrowing down a shortlist of leads, our dashboards make it easier to understand, communicate, and make confident decisions faster, allowing you to spend more time making decisions. Both provide years of expertise in in vitro safety pharmacology, computational modeling, and translational science.

If you haven’t tried them yet, log into your eCOM account and give them a go. And if your team wants a walkthrough, we’re always happy to schedule a demo.
